The University of the First Age
The UFA network unlocks the potential of young people. We raise aspirations across schools, homes and communities by creating transformational learning experiences. We inspire and equip young people and the adults that support them to become confident individuals, successful learners and responsible leaders. UFA is a national educational charity. Since 1996 we have worked with over 750,000 young people and 6,000 adults in 50 regions, to create inspiring learning for all. UFA has also worked with groups in Jamaica and Australia.
Experience it
Young people take part in UFA Super Learning Days (off-timetable days), after school clubs and week-long holiday challenges. All these experiences focus on young people understanding more about themselves as learners whilst developing a range of useful skills and competencies for life in the 21st Century. *
Lead it
Young people have the opportunity to progress and train as leaders on a range of programmes including Peer Tutor training, Students of Today Leaders of Tomorrow, Peer Trainer training, Young Researchers and Evaluators and Lead Learners (who plan, run and evaluate clubs/other learning experiences for other young people). *
Grow it
Young people join and develop the UFA in their area and nationally by joining YoUFA our young people’s network.
*young people can gain the equivalent of 2 GCSEs through taking part in 2 or more UFA activities. UFA also runs other programmes including adult or lead practitioner training and a Transforming Learning programme.
