Archbishop Grimshaw Catholic School
By teaming up with the educational charity, ASDAN, Archbishop Grimshaw Catholic School has been able to give its students valuable career knowledge, insight into the world of work and opportunities to practice and develop their employability skills.
During the course of the past twelve months students have taken part in various community projects, which have involved them building a nursery garden and cleaning graffiti in the local community. Students have also taken part in a work experience placement in the vocational area of their choice and have gained valuable career knowledge, skills and an idea of where they want their career to take them.
As well as this, the school has provided one-to-one mentoring to students to help them succeed within and beyond education. Last year, the school managed to ensure that 100% of the group identified as at risk of becoming ‘not in education, employment or training’ (NEET), all left school with a minimum of three equivalent GCSEs. Each of these students is now in either college or training.
