For far too many young people the current education system is falling short. The research speaks for itself. Every survey of unfilled vacancies confirms that employers are looking for - and not finding – key employability skills amongst school leavers. That’s why a holistic, or whole, approach to education is so important and why we have spent the last five years developing a new school model specifically designed to equip young people with the wider skills they need. Studio Schools will break new ground in English education, offering a pioneering practical approach to learning rooted in the real world.

In Studio Schools a holistic approach will characterise all the schools’ activities. Working closely with our local partners, businesses and the country’s leading educational agencies we have developed a bold new practical approach to learning specifically designed to ensure young people develop their wider skills. But more than that, in Studio Schools students will gain a meaningful insight into the working world through real work placements. These will go far beyond what is currently offered at traditional schools with students spending a significant portion of their weekly time as employees in local businesses. There is considerable evidence that this holistic approach to learning will better prepare young people for life and work.
