ASDAN
ASDAN is a charitable social enterprise with awarding body status, providing courses to more than 6,000 schools, colleges, training providers and youth groups across the UK and also abroad. ASDAN's Awards and Qualifications offer flexible ways to accredit personal and social education, skills development (including learning to learn skills) and enrichment activities, mainly for the 11-25 age group, but relevant to all in the context of lifelong learning.
ASDAN courses encourage an active, participatory response from young people, who thrive on the experiential bite sized challenges offered and on the responsibility they are given. Through step wise progressive successes at the different levels of awards, young people enhance their generic and employability skills, increase their chances of access to further and higher education (ASDAN’s level 3 qualifications are point scored in the UCAS tariff, so that 17 and 18 year olds are using them to gain access to University), and strengthen their personal development and achievement.
ASDAN is managed by professionals experienced at working with young people, so ensuring that all its resource and support materials remain relevant to need. Its phenomenal growth and success over the last 25 years demonstrates what professional imagination can achieve when staff across the country work together around a shared vision of education.
