Our Leading a Whole Education at secondary community combines the structure of a programme with a broad range of opportunities your team can pick and mix based on your school’s context.
This national launch event, taking place on 7th October 2021, will be an opportunity to develop professional relationships with like minded school leaders, reflect on your school improvement journey and be inspired by inputs from expert speakers and schools showcasing the impact of the programme in their own schools.
Keynote speaker: Guy Claxton
Keynote Session: Pedagogy is the heart of a 21st century school
A good school makes sure that curriculum, pedagogy, assessment and culture are all aligned with its explicit vision: the valued outcomes on which it proudly and publicly wishes to be judged. For most, these valued outcomes comprise the development of character as well as good results and a satisfied Ofsted. The most important drivers of character development are culture and pedagogy. But how do classrooms look, feel and sound different if we are genuinely growing dispositions such as curiosity and independence, and valuing them as much as test scores?
Having heard from Guy we will consider the journey our schools have set out to travel this year; acknowledge the obstacles that might conspire to knock us off course and look to establish ways of working together that will help us to avoid the detours. This will include considering how WE programmes, events and network interactions can be woven together to power up our ability to be the schools our students and their communities need.
