On 20th January 2022, Whole Education was joined by more than 50 schools for the first session of our 12th Annual Conference, which featured keynote speaker Yong Zhao speaking about personalisable education.
This year’s conference theme is “Leading Your Evolution with Purpose II”. Over four virtual evening sessions, we are asking how leaders at all levels can positively harness their learning and experiences to create a brighter future for all young people.
In this first session, Professor Yong Zhao explored how personalisable education for all children could help every child find and cherish their greatness. This was then followed by a Q&A hosted by WE’s Shonogh Pilgrim and then a panel discussion with school leaders in our Whole Education Primary and Secondary network: Kerry Scott (Ainslie Wood Primary School), Dave Bennett (The Winstanley School), Dave Flowitt (Coritani Academy) and Vic Goddard (Passmores Academy). The panel reflected and shared their own experience of personalisable learning in their schools.

“We need to accept that every child is a natural-born learner. Every child wants to learn, but no child is the same as any other child.” @YongZhaoEd @WholeEducation pic.twitter.com/vwCUSTnzOu

“We have naturally born, diverse, intentional learners. We can force everyone to learn to paint 🎨 but we can’t force all to become Picasso 👩🎨 We need to start with the child, not the curriculum” says @YongZhaoEd at #WholeEducation conference #WE12@ShonoghP @popejames pic.twitter.com/sHdg4H5FpT

Lots of food for thought – there is always another way. Constraints of government educational policy is an issue, as discussed in the panel. It our job to not let it be the main issue in preventing our children to have what they need. Big task – great session. @WholeEducation https://t.co/p2VgF4FuFt

Really enjoying the depth of focus on both growth in identity and wellbeing as well as academic progress- coupled with challenge to sue reserach as/and organised systematic listening to pupils https://t.co/E9n9NFttaU
