Learning Group: Engaged, Motivated and Independent Learners with Duncan Roberts

The next session for the Engaged, Motivated and Independent Learners Learning Group will take place on 30th April where we will be joined by Duncan Roberts, Principal of Joyce Frankland Academy.

Duncan will lead us through some of the deeper questions from previous Learning Group sessions and extend by unpicking in more depth:

  • Examples of 'The Learning Pit' for both adults and pupils with some scenarios about the emotions we feel when we are in the pit

  • Factors that may disengage, demotivate and make pupils dependent in our schools and working on some solutions to flip these issues on the head

  • Some practical examples of how to develop oracy as a whole school strategy, potentially linking this with the challenge of how we make direct instruction more exciting... If it's the 'go-to' option, how do we make the option better?

Learning Groups are open to members of the Whole Education network and can be signed up to via our Digital Network. If you are not a member, but would like to attend, please contact us.
